Sketching the Heart of the Cat

Aaah, isn't the weather just lovely! I've heard it's going to change again. So I'll hold off buying a new straw hat and sunnies for now.

Been feeling really cheeky recently... think it's probably got something to do with Friday's Foul Food Fotos...

Probably looking a bit cheeky too, as I have sun burnt cheeks and am now sipping rosé wine in my sunroom.

Do you remember my sketches a few posts back?? Two in particular...

Well my little sweet pea of a daughter, really liked them and wanted to have a go at her own...

By Talulah Lotus * Age 6

I think I'll hand over the pens and be done with sketching then... I really love her ones!!

And there's this one she did too...

Mummy's one

Talulah's one

And whilst we're on the subject of my beautiful daughter... here she is... with her first tooth finally out!

Tally-Lu-Who

And here's a funny little something... me... about the same age. And just a little something to prove to all my family that, yes, my daughter doesn't just look like her daddy, like they all pretty much insist (except her daddy)! Grrrrrrr... no I don't have issues about this! Promise!! (They don't read this anyway! Wouldn't mind being proved wrong though...).

Back to the talk about teeth. Teeth. Those shiny little (or large) things that chop through and mush up all our food. Those teeth that we hopefully want to have all through our lives without any problems. Those teeth that get stained with coffee, wine, etc etc. Those teeth that get stained with penicillin. Yep, that's right. Only recently this little lassie below by the name of Boomeroo (ok, it's her nickname!) was a poorly little munchkin and needed two doses of the banana flavoured antibiotics to get her back to her old self. I was completely freaked out a couple of days afterwards (around the time we found above daughter's wobbly tooth - then took pics of both kid's teeth) to find her teeth were yellow on the top parts near her gums. I shamefully went to my friends, head almost in hands, believing we hadn't been good enough at brushing her teeth, only to find a couple of weeks later, back at the docs, I asked about it and yep, it's all down to that sickly sweet yellow banana-y flavour peni-ya-whats-it's-job!

So I'm pleased to announce... it's finally fading!

Bitsy-Big-"Girl"-Boomeroo

And now she can smile again without me grimacing at the thought of people thinking we're rather rubbish at brushing her teeth!

Ooooof this is getting to be a long post. Blibber-blabber mouth here, has too much to say as usual!

So anyhoo... here's a little something I've made recently. Was intended for our mother's for mother's day. However, they still sit on my recycled cake stand, waiting to be posted off. It's ok, they're used to me and my ways, so they know they await a wonderful surprise one day! (Perhaps in December!).

They're little magnets! I'm making them in brooches too, if requested! Available for very little pennies at my little shops on folksy & etsy.

Oh! I had a fantastic little find t'other day! (yep... I'm on one tonight... think it must be this rosé)... I was ever so excited to find a basket full of thimbles!! And just look at them! Wow right!?! There were more...loads more... but Mr Phizmiz was keen to get a beer with his leftover squids in his pocket (mine were bare) so I had to just put up with 3. I wanted them all!

I might just have to superglue them all to my fingers & have the best finger tips on the planet.

Look at the lovely behind the thimbles...

An old botany etching

Bloody beautiful, isn't it.

Suppose, as he's sat next to the laptop right now, (moved out of the sunroom and into my new made dining room) the cat is looking proudly smug and awaiting his moment of stardom ... so here he is, so accurately put, where every cat should sleep.

In the laundry basket...

Wishful Thinking

I wasn't sure how to open up the first post after my nine days away, despite this special little treat, Friday's Foul Food Fotos.

But I've well and truly landed back in cyber space. So hello there from Moopette Maison all! Nice to be back.

Nine days without any internet or laptop to entertain me, I thought... Ace! Brilliant! Nine whole days while the Mr's away, kids at School during the day, I can get LOADS done. I can make this and that, organise this, be really creative, coffee with the ladies, bit of pampering, etc. etc. BUT sods law landed on my doorstep with a massive THUD(!!) in the form of a horrid flu that wiped out my little monkeys and knocked me down half way through the week too. So... no energy and two little poorly lassies to look after on me tod... Get ANYTHING done??! Hell no.

All I could muster up was the energy to do these... Titled "Wishful Thinking"...

And these...

Looking a bit shoddy as they need to be scanned rather than photographed, but ours is in scanner heaven.

So there you have it. In the whole nine days away... that was pretty much it. I envisaged my pretty blue craft desk spilling over the top with crafty makes and projects... but it wasn't to be.

However... remember this?? It's very exciting...

Yep! Fulcanelli's Shoes has finally been released in it's entirety. So please please check it ooot here which features the full length video (54.53) as well. Plus there's another very special page which is purely the music from Fulcanelli's Shoes... right about.... here.

So that's all marvellous and jolly.

Three little nitty-bits of Moop news.

Well... Fanny Hatstand and myself were setting up a film festival with a food theme, to run alongside Bridport Food Festival. Unfortunately it's now postponed until next year's Food Festival, so we have much longer to focus on it and set it up. So MINDTHEGAP!!!

It's been long awaited by many... but one of these days I'm going to get round to finishing off the video of the event we curated, HowToSayTo, from a couple of weeks ago at Bridport Arts Centre.

And... last but very much not the least...

I love my new mug from Pam's for 30p!

I've been mentioning now and again a little idea I have... that I think and hope will really pick up and be... (ok ... no modesty here) .... flippin' floppin' ludicrously massive!

I think it's a very good idea... which has something to do with tea... however, you will have to wait and see! All I will say is that I LOVE TEA! So MINDTHIS(verybig)GAP!!!

And the winner iiiis....

(She already knows it...) ...Trashsparkle, from over here! With the winning name (OONA!) being pulled from a hat by Talulah.

We laid them all out. Just because. We had 10 entries!!

In the hat they go!

Talulah getting ready to pick the winning ticket! (And in need of a fringe trim! )

Here's a little clip to show you exactly how it happened!

The Golden Ticket!!
And so, there we have it. Our first little competition!

Oona Owl, as promised is now in my folksy shop, looking lovely next to my porcelain dishes. Also as promised, Trashsparkle will receive a little Owl in the post, (which I'm not going to show on here until I've posted it...so it's a surprise!!). In the post tomorrow!

Oswald, yet again is having a bit of a makeover in readiness to go in the shop too. I'll also be adding an option for custom mades on there too!

***Competition*** Name the birdy * Mrs Oswald Owl * WIN a baby owl brooch!!

Well, those of you who have noticed my makings recently, may have also noticed a mention of a competition. Since making Oswald Owl, I've been very keen to keep at this brooch making & perfect it somewhat. That's where Mrs Oswald Owl comes in. She will be the very first little Owl brooch to be going into my little shop on Folksy.

And here's where I need your help. Mrs Oswald Owl, is Oswald's wife. She doesn't have a name just yet. I need you to name her. So, here's the plan... you suggest a name, on this blogpost, twitter me, facebook or email marthamoopette (@) gmail dot com and the competition will end midday on Sunday 27th, where I will pull the lucky winner's name out of a hat. The winner will be very lucky to not only get to name the Owl brooch going into my shop, but also receive a little triangle baby Owl brooch (all completely handmade btw), that I will send direct to your little housey.

Names that have been suggested already (that I will enter) are "Osmerelda", (MadebyDolly), "Virginia" (Wonder Maguire), "Octavia" (theothermousie) and "Olivia", (ThisGirl_is).

Just to jog your memory, here's Oswald. Want to know a little bit more about Oswald & his oddities. He's a bit of an odd little Owl really.

Oswald showing off.

Just so you can see how big he is...

Mrs Oswald Owl... in need of a name.

So, do join in friendlies. Get naming that Owl. (She's practically double the size of Oswald BTW - As Alexander McCall Smith would call "traditionally built). There'll be many more of Oswald's family going in my shop over the next couple of weeks.

Things seem to be a little bit Oswald crazy over the past week. He even has three blogspots dedicated to him now... However, more news in this crazy household... we have our event coming up very soon at Bridport Arts Centre which should be a jolly good entertaining evening. I'll be projecting a new video piece onto the front of the building (which I have yet to make).

And... I've also been making a new cake tier tray...

And just for fun... we went rambling yesterday around an old Castle site and to see a big rude chalk boy on the side of a hill...

Vulnavia & myself running through the trenches.

Couldn't resist the oh.so.disgustingly.beautiful hue/saturation colours.

How nice would this look on a wall!?!

And Mr Rude Boy.

Looking forward to all the name suggestions!! Good luck everyone!

The Snail that came for tea & Oswald's makeover.

One poorly lass and one bouncing off the walls (yep, she's all better now) have found a little snail this afternoon in one of their buckets. He's a nice little fellow but snail politics have arrived between this 4 and 6 year old about how and where he should be...so...to the garden he shall shortly be going...

Mr Snail...

Thinking about it, in the late hours of last night, whilst writing up Oswald's hobbies, I mentioned the possibility of other little animal creatures (was thinking brooches) appearing, but lo and behold, perhaps it's Celandine.

Hello...I'm a little snail...Celandine the snail.

Oswald & his makeover

Celandine & Oswald, making friends.

It's a good job he's going to be in the garden soon. Last time we found some baby snails we put them in a (fairly big) jar with some leaves and added a wee bit of water for moisture, (and lid with holes in) only to forget about them and find them pretty much liquefied. Yeah, nice.

Moving on... well, Oswald's all finished now with his little wings, beak and feet. And he's much happier about it too. So, shortly look out for some more of Oswald's friends appearing in my Little Bitty Pretty One Shop.

Had better go, Oswald's trying to open his bottle of martini and I think it's still a bit early for that.

Oswald The Owl

Meet Oswald the Owl.

Oswald
My new half finished brooch. He's a little bit square, in both senses of the word, but he's a jolly little companion to have about, especially on bleak winter days. (Hurry up Spring!!) He is a funny one. Not even finished and he was bug bug bugging me to show him off. Could I refuse? No.

He is a bit on the shabby side of chic and looks to have possible fallen out of a tree as an egg...but I shan't be telling him this.

His hobbies (which he was keen for me to share) are late night fishing trips, unicycle riding, weaving, tennis, draughts, mouse-hunting, sword fighting, sock knitting, reading Edward Lear, singing into a hairdryer (? ... no... i don't know either.. ) martini drinking, playing catch the baby owl (dangerous? much!) social networking sites, playing snake on his phone (so ten years ago), eating pansies, cutting people's long hair in their sleep (I told him out straight that this was weird, he argued about getting bored being up through the night all the time while all his friends were asleep)...and picking pears.

You know, I'm sure that he's got many other little friends that may appear (and be as wonderfully weird), suchlike Celandine the Snail, Wonda the Whale, Penelope the Pigmy,  Meredith the Mongoose or Kenneth the Kingfisher perhaps.

So who says here here to Oswald and his oddities?? I think he needs a big cheer for making it even this far in life. Here here Oswald. Here here.
