In actual fact this was my second, but I failed the first challenge.
It may help if I begin at the beginning, for you poor old Michael Finnegan.
Well recently we have been watching Lars Von Trier's amazing back catalogue of films and came across The Five Obstructions which is a documentary where Lars challenges Jørgen Leth (filmmaker) to remake one of his own films, called The Perfect Human but five times and with strict guidelines.
You can see the guidelines/obstructions on the link above. I would go as far as to say it was brilliant and has really inspired me. It just seems like a genius idea to give someone a challenge that they have to repeatedly remake their own film, but from different angles and ways of doing it. It is really worth getting. And Lars tries to make it as awful and painful as can be which just makes great TV.
And so Mr Phizmiz has recently been suggesting little shorts films for me to make with a number of obstructions. The challenge set for me was to make a 10 second film, with a cat and a death in it and to be done by midnight last night. I have somewhat taken these obstructions and perhaps twisted them a little, but here is my first attempt.
Well then... What do I say? Ten seconds long (although now it's uploaded it's saying 11!). It has a cat. And the cat subsequently has killed us all. So touché dear husband, I think I have succeeded at this mission albeit a film far from a masterpiece with dodgy sound.
So, until next time, lets just hope this doesn't become reality.
